Time Exchange Etiquette
TRUST AND COMMUNICATION
- The Gold Standard in Time Exchange -
- It is the member’s responsibility to arrange his or her exchanges.
- To set up an exchange, you may need to contact more than one person.
- If you have attempted to contact someone several times and they have not responded
within a week or so, please let the coordinator know. The coordinator will contact
that person.
- If you can’t find the service you want, email MTB and we will put a notice out for you.
- Return all phone calls or emails within 48 hours.
- It’s OK to say no - you don’t need a reason.
- If you can’t keep a scheduled exchange, give at least 24 hours notice (unless you have an emergency). Otherwise, the provider can charge for their time.
- If you forget an appointment, apologize to the other member as soon as you realize it.
- The provider of a service is responsible for reporting the exchange. The receiver’s account will automatically be deducted.
- Hours can be recorded in 15 minute increments.
- Report your hours as soon as possible.
- You may charge money for travel, gas, ingredients, or supplies used in your service. Be clear about all of this in listing your service and before engaging in the transaction.
- If you will be unable to participate for a period of time, contact the coordinator and ask that your account be made temporarily inactive.
- Respect other members’ viewpoints and don’t pressure members to accept your political views or religious beliefs.
- Treat fellow time bank members with compassion and respect.
